About us
Our story
The company was setup in 2004 by husband and wife team, John and Tamara Crumpton. Read our story below to find out how it all began.
One August evening in London many years ago, John was selling t-shirts outside an underground music event held at Aldwych tube station (see photo above). These t-shirts exclaimed a quirky message: ‘I need a ticket extension to another dimension.’ John desperately wanted to attend the event, but weeks before tickets had sold out.
That same evening, Tamara was in possession of a spare ticket due to a friend’s last minute cancellation. This provided a fantastic opportunity for John to negotiate an exchange: a ticket for a t-shirt.
Since the event, both kept in touch as they were both graphic designers by occupation and shared common ground for film, humour and guinea pigs!
A few months followed before John and Tamara’s friendship blossomed into a whirlwind romance. Before long, they started to work on design projects together for the fashion, culture and property industries. More projects landed on their laps as their relationship developed into marriage. This sparked the exciting idea of starting up their own design agency. They took the plunge in 2004, leaving consultancy work at large design agencies, to focus on helping growing businesses develop their professional image.
The company is called Double Sided. For John and Tamara, the name encapsulates the meaning of graphic design. That design has two complementary sides: design for print, and design for web.
Well that’s our story, why don’t you tell us yours?
