Brief
Performance is art is a one-off live experience. It is rarely seen again.
Two performance artists known as Mad For Real needed a book to document their most important projects, including their well-known performance ‘Jumping on Tracey Emin’s Bed’ at the Tate Gallery in 1999.
Solution
A self-titled book displaying their projects from 1999—2004, uses documentary style photography and video stills from their personal library.
The cover reads Mad For Real in English on the front and in Chinese on the back; this allows for either cover to be displayed depending on the region.
128pp, 98 colour and 33 b&w illustrations. 210×260mm.
Result
The artists’ recognition increased due to the global distribution of their books through the internet. This has generated commissions from new sources.
