Brief

Hackney City Farm needed a redesign of their website to encourage visits and involvement from the local community.

The purpose of the site was to provide updated information about the animals, reflect the wealth of activities, community projects, and craft workshops held at the farm.

Solution

As this social enterprise caters to children, adults, and corporations alike, professionalism is just as important as having a welcoming appeal to encourage visitors to explore the site and learn about the farm. This is achieved by marrying a clean, clear layout in the content area with the playful background illustration.

Having the content area set in white allows for texts to be easily read. The illustration has a limited colour scheme to allow for the photographs to come forward and take precedence.

Results

They have a friendly and more professional brand image which has generated more business, with film companies wanting to hire animals and filming at the farm location.

Full visitor tracking on the website has helped them to successfully apply for council funding.

Client feedback

‘Hackney City Farm is a very popular and well visited community resource in East London accessed by over 50,000 visitors each year. In spite of this it only has a core staff of 5 full time employees who provide a wide variety of activities and projects. To reflect the Farm’s work Double Sided have redesigned and now maintain our website.

We are really grateful for Double Sided’s support; our website is brilliant, so clear and engaging. They have done a great job and with site analytics we have charted increasing web interest.’
